Wings Win 1st Place11/19/2012 Congratulations to the Enchanting Wings Dance Team for winning 1st place at the 1st annual Go Hard or Go Home Dance Line Showdown held at HISD Kashmere High School on Saturday, November 17th. The Wings battled Kashmere, D3 Elite, Yates Lionettes, and Westbury Blue Diamonds dance team for the title of #1 dance team in Houston. This showdown was in support of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Campaign against childhood Obesity. Congratulations go out to:
Wings learn from Beyonce's Dancer09/15/2012 Guest Choreographer Chrissy Pellerin. Chrissy is a Houston native, and Alief Elsik High School. Chrissy graduated from Sam Houston University, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance Degree. Chrissy has toured with Beyonce, Rhianna, Kelly Rowland, Jamie Foxx Mario, Destiny’s Child and Solange. She taught the Wings a jazz funk master class which included the latest LA styles and secrets! The Willowridge High School Wings Dance Team under the direction of Melissa Jones and Tonia Johnson recently returned from MA Dance & Auxiliaries summer camp. The camp was held at the Houston Hilton North Hotel at Greenspoint Hotel and had over 200 participants. As host to thousands of students each year, Marching Auxiliaries awards organizations and individual participants at its camp around the nation. Founded in 1976, MA has been conducting summer workshops for 35 years, and is one of the largest privately held dance and auxiliary companies in the world. The Enchanting Wings Dance Team received the following honors at camp: Home Routine Plaque- Presented to teams that exemplify great choreography, execution, and showmanship at the Home Routine Performance on the first night of camp. Home Routine Ribbons- Superior ratings awarded to all schools bringing a Home Routine to camp. All Star Performer Ribbons:
Students earn these ribbons if they are attentive and enthusiastic throughout class and demonstrate mastery of skill. These students also receive the designation, “MA All-American” and will be invited to perform at the Capitol One Bowl Halftime show in Orlando and the AT&T Cotton Bowl in Dallas, TX.
